Spot does not cover pre-existing conditions
Spot's coverage covers pre-existing conditions. This is a departure from most pet insurance plans. Some medical conditions are exclusions from the policy. For instance, dental disease, hip dysplasia, intervertebral disk disease, and other hereditary conditions aren't covered. The insurance does not cover dental or orthodontic procedures, nor expenses associated with boarding and daycare. Cosmetic procedures and bilateral conditions are not covered by the insurance.
Spot's preexisting condition policy does not cover treatment for arthritis. The company defines a pre-existing condition as any medical condition that existed before the plan was issued. Unless arthritis has been treated, the insurance company cannot pay for treatment. There is no age limit on this policy, but customers must pay a $2,500 deductible to cover vet costs.
